Fully Handmade Chuan Lu Zhu Ni Teapot
Fully Handmade Chuan Lu Zhu Ni Teapot
Fully handmade by a potter in Ding Shan County, Yixing, China, this teapot features a classic Chuan Lu shape and was made with original mine zhu ni clay that was collected and aged by the potter. The shape of teapot was inspired by teaware from the Bronze Age. We particularly like the grainy texture of the aged zhu ni clay and traditional shape of this teapot. It has a square built-in 9 holes filter. The square mouth of this teapot is particularly hard to form by hand, and we are amazed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail the potter put into this teapot.
Zhuni is a type of Zisha (紫砂)Clay in Yixing, and it is known for its outstanding performance in creating teapots. The Zhuni teapot makes the taste of tea becomes soft, smooth and the flavor is very long-lasting.
Zhuni clay contains extremely fine particles, therefore it is very sticky and elastic. It also has two distinguish characteristics:
1. Clay is rich in iron
2. Clay contains less percentage of zinc, copper or magnesium.
Zisha (紫砂) clay from Yixing is highly valued because of the porous nature of the clay. As you use it, oils from your tea moisturize the pot, which can in turn season it and enhances the flavor of the tea that you use it with overtime. For this reason, we recommend dedicating your new Yixing teapot to one type of tea only, such as ripe puer, raw puer, oolong, black tea, etc, and never wash it with soap or anything else besides water.

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use a bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
